Original Item: Only One Available. At sea, there really is no shelter from the inclement weather, and sailors need to be on deck, regardless of the conditions. This has led to the development of "Foul Weather" rain gear to be used in these circumstances. These were designed to protect the sailor from the elements, especially to keep them from getting overly wet, which could be a fatal situation in the cold months.

This is a very nice German WWII Kriegsmarine (Navy) Foul Weather Rain hat, made of brown rubberized canvas. The brim is reinforced with multiple layers of canvas, while the crown is just a single layer. A simple tie chin strap helps to secure it to the soldiers head. There was also a coat that went with these caps, however they are exceedingly rare.

The interior of the cap is marked with size 59 at the top of all four main sections, and it also is marked with Waffenamt WaA327 over a date of 1940. Below this is maker marked inside of a black retangle:

WILLY
SPRENGPFEIL
MUTZENFABRIK
HAMBURG 19

The condition of the cap looks to be pretty much unissued, with only light wear to the rubberized finish from storage. It has been folded in half for decades, which has caused some splitting in the rubber coating. The chin strap is still intact, with just a bit of fraying on the end.

A very nice example of a hard to find German WWII Naval cap, ready to display!
